I'm sitting in the back of a car with a friend Richard who is driving. We are out on Patrol so there is lots of free time to talk. I want to ask Richard a question so start
Rrrrr ..... rrrrrr rrr r
. Can't get his name out, no problem I say, I am in the back of the car, its noisy and he can't see me. So perfect opportunity to practise my speech techniques. I try again, this time with a soft contact on the 'R' ... still nothing. Try again with a prolongation ... not working. I spent the next 30 min trying to say this dudes name :-( couldn't get it out. In the end just said
hey constable
.
'Richard' has never been a difficult word for me to say or a word that I have avoided. Since then I have said 'Richard' many times with no problems. For those 30 minutes I just couldn't say it. The ladies expression in the photo sums in up nicely!
